2025 SUMMER CAMP STAFF

Andi Wells

Camp Counselor

Andi Wells grew up northeast of Atlanta where she was constantly playing outside, playing soccer, and spending a lot of time in the north Georgia mountains. She graduated from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies. During her time at Eckerd, she worked with students in the community and taught them the importance of sustainability and how to grow their foods. This experience grew her love for educating others about the environment and how together we can make a change. She likes to spend her free time playing/watching soccer, hiking, reading, and spending time with friends.

Barrett Condon

Camp Counselor

Barrett grew up near Idaho Springs, giving him easy access to Colorado’s beautiful mountains. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Ecology from the University of Colorado and a master’s in Elementary Education from Metropolitan State University of Denver. He worked as a counselor at Bluff Lake last summer and is excited to return for another fun-filled season with campers! For the past two years, Barrett has worked as a substitute teacher in Denver Public Schools, and he’ll be stepping into a full-time fifth grade teaching role next year. In his free time, you can find him in the mountains backpacking and fly fishing with his two dogs, Scrappy and Stella.

Ben Jacques

Summer Camp Director

ben@blufflake.org

Ben loves the outdoors and one of his favorite spots to be outdoors is Bluff Lake. It was the first place he explored after moving to Colorado and is the place where he has seen the most species of birds (133). He can relate to the campers when they don’t want to go home at the end of the day. When he does go home he spends his time rock climbing, birding, and snowboarding. He grew up in Massachusetts and got a Wildlife Management Degree at Paul Smith’s College in New York. Environmental Education has brought him to places like Brazil, California, Florida, Maine, Minnesota, and Vermont. He hopes his campers find their own love for the outdoors.

Elizabeth Clark

Substitute Camp Counselor

Elizabeth has worked at Bluff Lake Summer Camp as a substitute program leader since 2023. ELizabeth has enjoyed working with kids since she was in high school. They have supported their mom when running an at-home day care, and was always the first to volunteer to babysit. She has a background and bachelor's degree in special education, and works at a middle school during the school year. She is excited to return as a substitute program leader this year!

Jackson Fischer

Camp Counselor

Jackson is excited to return for his second summer at Bluff Lake! During the past school year, he worked as a first-grade teacher in Aurora and is passionate about helping kids connect with nature—especially those who may not always have the opportunity to do so. Originally from Chicago, he has lived in Denver for three years since graduating from DePaul University.

In his free time, Jackson enjoys skiing, traveling, and learning Spanish. He’s looking forward to another summer of adventure, learning, and helping campers build confidence in the outdoors!

Roisin McCune

Camp Counselor

Roisin grew up in Denver and has been visiting Bluff Lake all her life. She has a Bachelor of Arts from Pacific University in Political Science with an emphasis on Environmental Policy. She previously completed an AmeriCorps service term as an Environmental Educator at Bluff Lake and worked as a Forest School Teacher with Denver Forest School. During her time in these positions, she worked with students of all ages to help them learn about Colorado's environment, wildlife, and plants, and to help students gain joy from being outdoors. She enjoys spending her free time birding, hiking, skating, and cooking.

Summer Short

Camp Counselor

Summer is a current student at Colorado State University, majoring in Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology with a minor in Entomology. After college, Summer hopes to become a Colorado-based entomologist with a focus in conservation. She has always been a nature lover, and enjoys camping, hiking, looking under rocks for insects, and exploring the outdoors! Summer’s enjoyment of Colorado outdoor education camps during her childhood led her to volunteer at different children’s camps during high school and ultimately to her position as counselor at Bluff Lake Nature Center. She enjoys teaching children and adults alike about the environment, and gets especially excited about sharing the beneficial roles of insects within an ecosystem. Apart from all her outdoor interests, Summer loves art and spends her free time crafting and drawing. Summer is excited to return to Bluff Lake as a camp counselor this summer!
