Give your child a fun, educational opportunity in the natural world! Through games and activities, we will learn about the environment while exploring the diverse habitats of Bluff Lake. Students ages 5-12 are eligible. See our nature-based educational themes below!

Core Themes Covered through After School

*These themes are examples of what we may cover, not all encompassing. The actual content we cover is heavily influenced by the interest of the participants.

  • At Bluff Lake’s after school we provide a safe space for students to develop interpersonal skills such as problem-solving, conflict resolution, and effective communication. We do this by implementing activities that involve teamwork and critical thinking. We want your student to have fun and make friends!

  • Students will have the opportunity to develop their skills to identify animal adaptations in mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and insects! We will also learn about the different trees and plants that live at Bluff Lake and the different habitats we can find them in.

  • Students will have the opportunity to learn how to build fires, build shelters, create sparks, tie knots, adequately prepare themselves for an outdoor adventure, read maps, and navigate using a compass.

  • Students will have the opportunity to learn how to be stewards of the earth. We will talk about the ethical value that embodies the responsible planning and management of resources. Students will learn about the complex relationship between humans and nature.

  • Students will have the opportunity to build and run science experiments. An example of this is building a beaver dam using their knowledge of beavers.
